This session will compare and contrast the inflammatory pathophysiology and treatment of acquired cardiomyopathy and associated cardiogenic shock associated with Kawasaki disease, multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) secondary to infection with COVID-19, and bacterial septic shock.
Learning Objectives:
Review the pathophysiology and treatment of cardiogenic shock associated with Kawasaki disease
Discuss the postulated pathophysiology and treatment of cardiogenic shock associated with multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C)
Discuss the pathophysiology of cardiogenic shock as a key aspect of septic shock among children with sepsis
Compare and contrast acquired cardiomyopathy associated with Kawasaki disease, MIS-C, and classic pediatric septic shock
