Acute exacerbation of interstitial lung disease (AE-ILD) can sometimes be deceiving and difficult to differentiate from infectious pneumonia or acute lung injury. Even after diagnosis, management of AE-ILD exacerbation may involve more than a steroid burst. This session will focus on diagnosis and management of AE-ILD in intensive care settings.
Learning Objectives:
Diagnose and differentiate acute exacerbation of interstitial lung disease (AE-ILD) from acute respiratory distress syndrome and other causes of acute respiratory failure
Apply appropriate ventilatory strategies for fibrotic lungs in patients with AE-ILD
Evaluate immunosuppressive regimens for patients with severe AE-ILD
