Plasma exchange and plasmapheresis are widely used in the treatment of immunologic disorders, including neuroinflammatory diseases and vasculitides. The impact of large circulating volume shifts on medication dosing can be similar to that of CRRT, but unique features such as plasma protein binding make its impact distinct. In this lecture, we will focus on the impact of plasma exchange and plasmapheresis on the management of general critical care conditions as well as on disease-specific therapies.
