Caregivers of older survivors of critical illness face mental health problems following patient discharge from hospital including 2/3 who experience symptoms of acute stress, depression, and/or anxiety. Emerging data suggest that these symptoms may be amenable to targeted intervention. This talk will review data on mental health outcomes in survivors of critical illness and describe novel strategies aimed at improving outcomes for the caregivers of older adult survivors of critical illness.
